Ryan J. Brown is an award winning screenwriter and executive producer, best known as the creator of the BBC/HULU comedy-horror series Wreck.
Born in Scunthorpe and based in London, Ryan studied at Goldsmiths, University of London and Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts before winning theBAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Prizein 2016. He is the only writer to have appeared twice on the UK TV Brit List, recognising the industry's most acclaimed unproduced screenplays.
Alongside creating and executive producing Wreck, Ryan has written for Netflix's The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself and has developed original series with many leading broadcasters and studios, including the BBC, Sky, ITV, Disney, Apple TV+, Amazon and Universal InternationalStudios. His work often blends high-concept genre storytelling with emotionally grounded characters, exploring themes of identity, morality and the pressures of modern life.
In 2023, Ryan was recognised by Attitude magazine as one of its LGBTQ+ Trailblazers, celebrating influential voices across film, television and culture.
